Laughing too loud at the rest of the world. [entries|friends|calendar]

nothing is better than an old car. i can't wait to get my garage full of pre '74 cars and trucks. i don't care who you are, when you see one pass by, you really can't help but stare. they're big and beautiful and calling my name. i just wish my grandfather and dad hadn't sold their gto's & chevelles. towers & classic car shows are my holidays, forget about christmas & thanksgiving. the most beautiful things about these cars is the occasional superior pinstriping jobs; i'm a true artist at heart & there's nothing more exciting than walking up to a '53 bel air with a nice touch on the hood.

i love art. there's one thing that will never leave my life for sure. once you adopt a love like that you begin to look at the world differently. even the ugliest of things can take on this overwhelming aesthetic power. finally finishing a painting you've been waiting on for weeks, months, and being pleased with it, is what keeps me going. developing that photo and understanding you've caught a moment that you can feel all over again is like nothing else in the world. painting has become such a true therapy for me. i'm going to be the best damn advertiser you'll ever be persuaded by.

Happy Anniversary [Monday
31 Mar 2008 @ 03:52pm
Billetproof was a complete success. The car wasn't completely done, but at a rat rod show she fits right in.
& I love that our anniversaries are comprised of sushi, AO2, and John Travolta.

So Johan persuaded me with a picture from NotStock to rebuild Vera as she originally was - a GMC.

I never really fancied the GMC grilles, but this one looks right on. It'll be awhile 'til she gets there, but I'm now convinced she'll look right.

Finally got my 1949 truck. She's a beauty, named her Veronica. I believe she's definitely more of a Betty (Page) but Johan has deemed the Bel Air Betty so I guess I take a back seat. Gotta start picking up my mack brushes and practicing striping for the truck, whatever I FINALLY decide will be the tailgate piece is going to end up on my lower back.
I love this tattoo. I hardly find solitary leg tattoos (that is, if they're not sleeves...leg sleeves?) unattractive and blotchy, but I can't stop staring at this photo. Those stocking seams are screaming, and I'm tempted to fix myself up something of the like, but like everything I'll sit on it 'til I'm sure. Aaaannd in other news, Parlux still hasn't picked back up so I'll be running around this weekend looking for work. Devin and Johan are now OFFICIAL BIG DICKS ( http://www.bigdicksmusclecars.com/services.php ) who knows, maybe I'll end up with a job if they can squeeze in a good word. Other than that, Dev's Hell Air is almost done and Billetproof is up and coming, the interior is still gutted and the car is bare metal. We've got a few days to work on her but she sure is going to be beautiful. I still think the top should be white.

Devin's philosophy on laundry: [Thursday
21 Feb 2008 @ 02:53pm
Why do laundry when you still have clothes left? You don't go buy milk when you have some in the fridge.

HA. Men.

I really can't stand people who chew with their mouths open.

I need to get my mojo back, I havn't put out
any art, at all, this summer. I need my lil'

I'm kindof missing Jax, kindof a lot.
But at the same time,
I know I'll miss Springs when it's crunch time
But I guess the grass is always greener.

BTW, I AM thinking of all of you[s]. Getting in touch with kids from elem. is incredible, I even saw Warren DeLaRocha at my orientation a few weeks ago, crazy, I hadn't seen that kid since the 6th grade.

Life's been good [Saturday
07 Apr 2007 @ 01:54am
...They say I'm crazy but I have a good time, I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime, life's been good to me so far...
...Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through...I can't complain but sometimes I still do, life's been good to me so far ...
...I go to parties, sometimes until four, it's hard to leave when you can't find the door...
...It's tough to handle this fortune and fame, everybody's so different, I haven't changed...
...They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time...
...I keep on going guess I'll never know why, life's been good to me so far.

"I felt dreadfully inadequate. The trouble was, I had been inadequate all along, I simply hadn't thought about it...I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story...I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet."
-Sylvia Plath's 'The Bell Jar'

It's kind of odd updating this thing again. I guess it's because I don't have a myspace/don't particularly fancy ex-myspace-turned-facebook creeps.

You think you know where things are headed, in a positive directin, and even though they seem to be following that path, you occasionally spot these detour signs, these signs that proove a sure thing that the roads only going to become more narrow, gravel will taunt you with the hope of you losing your footing, but it's up to you to decide if you're willing to push on or if those damn construction workers really know what they're talking about.

What am I even talking about? Who knows.

Introducing Lil' Miss Maggie Mae... [Friday
09 Feb 2007 @ 03:22pm
We got her a few days before Christmas, now she's 9 months old.

She's a handful and that large lab tail is a pretty dangerous weapon, but we love her none the less.

"...she was in love, according to the present universally-received sense of that phrase, by which love is applied indiscriminately to the desirable objects of all our passions, appetites, and senses, and is understood to be that preference which we give to one kind of food rather than to another.

But though the love to these several objects may possibly be one and the same in all cases, its operations however must be allowed to be different; for, how much soever we may be in love with an excellent surloin of beef, or bottle of Burgundy; with a damask rose, or Cremona fiddle; yet do we never smile, nor ogle, nor dress, nor flatter, nor endeavour by any other arts or tricks to gain the affection of the said beef, &etc. Sigh indeed we sometimes may; but it is generally in the absence, not in the presence, of the beloved object. For otherwise we might possibly complain of their ingratitude and deafness, with the same reason as Pasiphae doth of her bull, whom she endeavoured to engage by all the coquetry practised with good success in the drawing-room on the much more sensible as well as tender hearts of the fine gentlemen there.

The contrary happens in that love which operates between persons of the same species, but of different sexes. Here we are no sooner in love than it becomes our principal care to engage the affection of the object beloved. For what other purpose indeed are our youth instructed in all the arts of rendering themselves agreeable? If it was not with a view to this love, I question whether any of those trades which deal in setting off and adorning the human person would procure a livelihood. Nay, those great polishers of our manners, who are by some thought to teach what principally distinguishes us from the brute creation, even dancing-masters themselves, might possibly find no place in society. In short, all the graces which young ladies and young gentlemen too learn from others, and the many improvements which, by the help of a looking-glass, they add of their own, are in reality those very 'spicula et faces amoris' so often mentioned by Ovid; or, as they are sometimes called in our own language, the whole artillery of love."

Subtract the greed that spurs you on and there's no room for them in your shitty scene. Feeding on a carcass to sustain a following. Nobody wins. You want it all and you spoil it for nothing. The Scene is dying. You bleed it dry. You'll get what you want. You feed on us, but you're so wrong. Now running out of fuel who worships you. You persecute you. The music fails you. Who hails you? The royalty of a shitty scene. It's a joke you can keep it.

P.S.- Since I rebooted my computer, I lost my screen name & buddy list. My new one is
